This design was part of an elective for Open Window. The brief required us to find a quote that we were quite fond of and to create an illustrated type from that.

The catch with the brief was that the design on the letters had to represent the words in some way.

I decided to use the quote “Seas the day” which is naturally a play on the word “seize” and “seas”.

Within this design, I decided to create waves out of the letters with the use of shading and colours. I also added some romantic elements such as the starfish and rocks to represent the “seas” of the quote. I also love the ocean, so in my personal view when one seizes the day, the best way to do it is to spend time at the beach for my personal preference.
